Public Service & Charities
The Nevin Kelly Gallery is proud to
support charitable causes in both the Washington, DC area and in
Poland, where many of the gallery's artists live.
MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION-POLISH CHAPTER

The
Nevin Kelly Gallery supports Fundacja Mam Marzenie® a Polish charity
that is modeled on the US-based Make-A-Wish Foundation®. Like the US
organization, Fundacja Mam Marzenie grants wishes to seriously ill
children, many of whom have conditions that are terminal. World-famous Polish poster artist Rafeł Olbinski prepared a poster for Fundacja Mam Marzenie® as a means of raising funds. A limited series
of 200 of these posters have been numbered and hand-signed by the
artist in pencil. The posters are available through the gallery at a
cost of $250 unframed and $375 framed. All proceeds of the sales of
the posters are contributed to Fundacja Mam Marzenie® in Poland. The
foundation's website is
www.mammarzenie.org. Contributions payable
to "Fundacja Mam Marzenie" are accepted at the Foundation's US
offices: 2143 Pennington Road, Trenton, NJ 08638
LOMBARDI COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CENTER

Georgetown University's Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of
the leading cancer research and treatment centers in the world. For
the past 18 years, the center has hosted the Lombardi Gala, one of
Washington's premier charity balls, which boasts one of Washington's
largest and best silent auctions. The Nevin Kelly Gallery is pleased
to have contributed a painting by Polish painter Lukasz Huculak to
the 2003 gala, a painting by Miami-based Polish painter Darek Pala
to the 2004 silent auction, and Washington, DC artist Thomas Walsh
and the gallery cooperated in donating a painting by Walsh to the
2005 gala. For more on the activities and programs of the Lombardi
Comprehensive Cancer Center, visit

MID-CITY BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

The gallery is a contributing member of the Mid-city Business and
Association, a neighborhood merchant's organization that is
dedicated to the continued improvement and economic development of
Washington's historic 14th & U Streets neighborhood. Long the center
of African American culture in segregated Washington, the
neighborhood hit hard times, particularly following the riots of
1968. The area has enjoyed a recent Renaissance that has included
the restoration of the historic Lincoln Theater, the return of noted
jazz clubs and the opening of fashionable restaurants, furniture
stores, boutiques and art galleries.
SUPPORT OF LOCAL CHARITIES AND ORGANIZATIONS

The Nevin Kelly Gallery has supported a number of local charities and
organizations, such as schools, churches, scholarship and public art
programs and a variety of civic organizations. Support has included
the contribution of small works to charity auctions, the purchase of
advertisement space in special fund-raising event programs and making
the gallery's space available for meetings or programs. The Nevin
Kelly Gallery is committed to being a good neighbor and, where it can,
to supporting programs that contribute to the betterment of Washington
DC and its citizens.
14TH & U BUSINESS AND ARTS COALITION

The gallery is a contributing member of the 14th & U Business and Arts
Coalition, a neighborhood merchant's organization that is dedicated to
the continued improvement and economic development of Washington's
historic 14th & U Streets neighborhood. Long the center of African
American culture in segregated Washington, the neighborhood hit hard
times, particularly following the riots of 1968. The area has enjoyed
a recent Renaissance that has included the restoration of the historic
Lincoln Theater, the return of noted jazz clubs and the opening of
fashionable restaurants, furniture stores and boutiques. The coalition
sponsors the Green Team initiative, which gives work to homeless
individuals who keep the neighborhood's sidewalks and gutters
litter-free and who offer assistance to visitors with questions about
the neighborhood. Many of the program's participants have already
moved to transitional and permanent housing. The Nevin Kelly Gallery
applauds this successful initiative and the other programs supported
by the 14th & U BAC.
